Howdy folks,
Most of you already know that we were
rained out last Sunday at Waco. The Waco Eagles will hold the event
this Sunday, the 24th(practice at 8, race at 9). This conflicts
with our original plan of having the "Fun-day-trailride-campout" at
Crooked Creek on the 23rd and 24th. Since the Waco folks were
expecting us, and went to the expense of buying awards for us, we
will have round 6, the GP Small Bore Challenge, this Sunday (24th)
at Waco. All our regular TVRC classes will be run.
I've heard from a few folks that were
looking forward to the trailride, but not very many of you. We've
contacted the owners about coming down on June 13-14th, a weekend
they would normally be closed. They are considering allowing us use
of the park. Please reply to me or Craig if you are interested.
Need to get a rough idea how many are coming, to see if it's worth
the effort. Some of us are going to Crooked Creek anyway,
this Saturday
morning, and a few have expressed interest in camping out and
leaving for Waco Sunday morning. It's 15 or 20 miles away.
Montalba is still on for the 31st.
It's unusual for us to race on back to back weekends, but this
particular rainout really jumbled our schedule. It would
not be a good idea
to hold a race on the weekend of the Freestone national, June 6th.
The race at Montalba will start later, with practice at 10, races at
11.
Speaking of the Freestone
weekend....there are plans for a vintage bike display, and possibly
a vintage parade lap. The display is being put on by some large
organizations; Racer-X, MX Files, Lucas Oil, FMF, AMA, AHRMA, and
others. If you are interested in showing a bike, let me know, and
I can put you in touch with Alex Moroz, the AHRMA off-road director,
or Joe Newmann in Beaumont, who's heading up the parade lap thing.
There is a chance you will be required to work pit security if you
bring a bike for display.
The biggest
vintage event over the May-June-July period of course will be the
North 40 Ahrma national; June 26-28th. David Henry is really
putting a lot of thought and effort into this one. Our little club
owes it to David and Beverly to show up and help where we can.
As always, keep an eye on our 2
websites for current info. Information regarding the trailride and
the Summer party will be on the old TVRC.org site, and most likely
not the "ning" site. Again, feedback on your interest in the
trailride/campout will be appreciated.
Sincerely,
Ken Walden
