Three races down for the Spring Series (2 points and 1
non points) and 5 events
to go.
WACO EAGLES...
Talk about an interesting race. Several of us traveled
down 35 on Saturday and
the Waco Eagles went out of their way to help the TVRC
have a great event.
Great weather Saturday afternoon when we arrived but
about 6:30 am on
Sunday morning the misting/rain started and continued
for about an hour. It was
hard to walk in the pits after the rain and the track
was soo bad that the group
wasn't much interest in racing. The event was postponed
until noon with
practice at 11:00am. The initial practice was still
keeping the vintage troops on
the sidelines.
was one of the only brave soles to go out
and
practice the first round of vintage practice.

The Early Favorite to win the Waco vintage class was
this bad boy ( girl?)

Sole survivor of first round of Vintage Practice.
Man did Galen give it heck. He was running fast and
using the whole track. The
modern bikes were having even more trouble with the
occasional sideways turn
in the middle of a straight way. As the last vintage
practice started we had about
6 people ready to give her a try and we ended up with 14
riders by the end of
the day – Kudos to those who rode. Turns out the track
wasn't too bad and got
better as the day continued. The Waco club ran the front
portion of the track for
the first moto and the complete track for the second
motos. Hard to believe but
the second motos were perfect!!! The track had dried
enough to become as
good as Waco ever gets. The MX Gods were looking after
us. . . .
OKLAHOMA...
Four hour each way for the Ft. Worth / Dallas guys. We
had 6 TVRC racers line
up against the Oklahoma Vintage guys. The Oklahoma
riders are a tough bunch
- not for show but all for performance! Those guys can
ride!!! The track had
some initial wet spots but just like Waco – the track
ended up really nice and
had soil that was a cross between Whitney / Mosier. The
track had snow earlier
during the week but didn't hurt the course at all.
It was Trey Jorski day at the Oklahoma track. It was fun
to watch Trey give the
kids a few lessons on going really fast. Trey took time
a the end of the event to
sign the winners' plaques. Jim and Jeff Simon's were the
ultimate hosts and
went out of their way to make everyone from TVRC feel
welcomed.
SHERMAN
Our third race was N40's annual Bike Week /Jim Pomeroy
Memorial Vintage
race. David always puts on a great race and was a
wonderful host. Friday night
we enjoyed a free dinner of grilled hamburgers and hot
dogs with free beer to
wash it down. Later that night we all enjoyed a little
karaoke!!
Saturday featured flat track races...more Karaoke and
the on Sunday Vintage
MX races.. The track was a challenge for many of the
riders but was still fun.
One of the high lights of the weekend was the new
