The year of 2005 is looking better than ever. In 2004, we, as a region,
pulled off some really successful events. All of those will be a repeat this
year. The Texas Motor Speedway event is surely to be fun, along with the
Rock Rally event at Texas Lil’s. Keep a close eye on these events as the
details are still in the works.
The Wyman Priddy event will be at the North Forty again this year, but
will be in October. We are hoping that the Pomerays will again attend this
event, and maybe Barry Higgins will be able to come out and play too!
Our first regional event will be at Lake Whitney on the 20th of February
’05. Be early and make sure that you bring your AMA card, it is an AMA
event. March the 13th will be at the North Forty in Sherman.
Waco is looking for us too and we are trying to set
the date after Don’s race in Jefferson. Look for Waco in mid-April or
early May.
Mid May will again see us at the North Forty.
(Corrected 2-22-05) There will be flat track on Saturday night May 14
and TT on Sunday. Motocross Vintage Style will be on Sunday morning May 15
with all historic and latter classes Sunday afternoon. the 15th is our date and we
can run our vintage in the morning and past vintage starting at noon. We
really have another option in May, and that would be old Fort Dallas. This
was a really fun event last year, and we hope we are able to race it again
this year.
The month of June is open except for Father’s day, we may look at a Swan
Event. June, July and August will have only one event. July, we should be
doing the Rock Rally. Texas Lil’s owners burned the place down. Thankfully
the promoters of the event still want us back this year. We do not know at
this time our location, all we know is the old owners are out on bail. Who
said vintage racing was boring.
Looking to September, we expect the Texas Motor Speedway event to be as
much fun as it was last year. We are hoping Jim Pomeroy will return, for he
is just too much fun! The shake up here is due to the second NASCAR event.
We aren’t able to report a date at this time.
Well enough schedule talk… riders moving up this year include: Chris
McCarthy- novice to intermediate, Clay Fugate – novice to intermediate, Red
Griffin – intermediate to expert, Larry Shope – intermediate to expert in
PVCC and PVMX.
In other regional news, we now have hope that the north and south can
again have a few joint events. Due to a chance in management, there is now a
chance we can be one at least for a day or two each year. There just isn’t
any reason why we can not get together. So come on you guys, let’s race!
Well, that just about wraps it up… look on our website for your regional
results and any changes. We hope to see everyone at Diamond Don’s in April….
Don’t forget to turn on the gas! See ya at the finish line!
