South Central 8-22-2004

The South Central Region will start its Fall Series on September 5th @ the North Forty Cycle Park. August 15th is our day at the North Forty to give input on any new track design. Laying out a ¼ mile flat track should also be fun. David Henry is the owner of the North Forty, and is an avid flat track racer, he will have the grader and dozers working to build this new flat track. He’s also planning showers and restrooms….lots to do and look forward to. This years’ Wyman Priddy event promises to be the best ever with Jim & Ron Pomeroy in attendance. Jim’s school will be on Saturday, so get signed up and bring plenty of gas…. You’ll need it! Hope to see all 165 Regional Members at this year’s event. The Motor Speedway is looking more like a display than a race. As of today, August 14th, we still do not have information about a race. Stay posted on our website, I am planning on heading to Milken, CO that weekend. Maybe next year this could be a good event. We have had two events with the Thunderbird Promotions, and so far have had a lot of fun. Old Fort Dallas was like racing on a golf course, and Texas Lil’s was just as much fun. I know these events can get bigger when thousands of motor cycle riders see the Vintage races they go nuts! We have some future dates this fall, but haven’t gotten the locations nailed down… so be flexible. Remember, grass tracks are really cool!!! Moberly will get major support from the Rough Riders this year, so if you need a bike transported, get on the web site and we’ll get it there for you. Hope to see all of Mo. Riders there… you guys are great fun! Mid Ohio was fun this year, as you who attended know, it was muddy. Mike Shelby made his splash into the National scene at Mid Ohio. Anyone got photos of his Bultaco crash at the jump/waterhole, he would like a photo or two. Chris Richardson borrowed my 400 Penton, and finished 4th over all. He’s selling his CZ and is building a 400 Penton – some one could get a really great CZ. Brett Lambert and Larry Shope had a great time. Larry finished 2nd and looked really good for some one who had 2nd degree burns on his back and shoulder. Seems he got upside down in a cross country race. His bike was on top and the pipe burned him really bad…. He still finished and didn’t look to have slowed at Mid Ohio. Larry’s a tough guy! Thanks to all of you who make this region what it is. We really hope this fall turns out good. Keep updated by the website for races and dates … we’re working on events at this time. Thanks to the new rider review board. Any new members should be ranked in there proper classes by the time they reach a nation event. If for some reason you can not make a regional event before a national, please call me and will set up a personal ride together with the board - Joe Busby, Skip Miller, Mike Shelby, and Clay Fugate. Remember, this grading system is for you, let’s use it! Almost forgot, at the Wyman Priddy race we will have two special races – the Texas vs. MO vs. OK vs. KA or any 4 riders from another state race at intermission last year two experts and two intermediates are a state. You could add a novice instead, so let’s race for the best state, also, we will give special awards for the small bore race – King of the Hill Event. Two motos on a small bore bike. Awards to 5th place, Scott Anderson will supply these awards so bring the light weights, and let’s have some fun! Wyman’s factory 450 KX will be on display this year. Allen Jackson was Wyman’s factory wrench. He had the bike all these years. Richard Reeves is giving it a once over. It should be really cool to see this factory/works bike. See ya @ the starting gate & remember, turn on the gas! Bobby Lucas 50X
