South Central
Regional Report
Janurary February 2004 |
|
The South Central Regional Series started its 3rd year with
a very successful motorcycle exp. at the Will Rogers Coliseum on New Years weekend. Mike
Kidd and Evil Knievel were present, and signed many autographs
no, neither of them
jumped any trucks. The display of Vintage Motocross, trials, flat track, and pit bikes was
the largest to date. Sorry to those who couldnt get your bikes in. Remember the
early bikes get the trophies. Mike, again, raised the bar as his awards were awesome. I
counted some 60 Vintage bikes on display, truly a cool event. Thanks to Mike Kidd! We will
see you again next year. The schedule has, for the most part, come together. We have a few
really special events on our calendar this year. Burleson, Waco, Whitney, North Forty,
Hole Shot Valley, Jefferson, and Nocona are just a few. The Texas Motor Speedway will be a
host in a Vintage event this year. We will keep you informed, but the deal seems to be
done details of racing inside the speedway are being worked out. This would be one
really cool event, and is planned for September
..stay tuned! The region continues to
grow in members, and tracks continue to contact us for events. Keep in mind we will hold
events where we are supported by all members. So until next month, remember
. turn on
the gas! See Ya @ the Starting Gate Bobby Lucas 50X

South Central Regional Report Started @ Last
The traditional first race of the year @ Burleson MX Park
was blessed by cool temperatures and great traction. The track was well
prepared, giving hast to 40+ vintage racers. Gates averaged 15 entries per
class. Same old faces showed up, some new, some of the diehard core as well.
Joe Busby continued his dominance in the Grand Prix class, and in the
Vintage had his 501 really running strong, in fact, he raced his 501 in the
second moto of the Grand Prix and easily beat everyone. Chris Barton started
what he hopes is a good year by winning the Historic class on his Penton
250. Chris was really cookin’ and as time goes on, he should be a force.
Clay Fugate has finally made his change from Husky to Maico and he ran a
really strong pair of motos. His dominance is just beginning. Chris
Richardson took a strong second to Joe on a new CZ. Chris claims it’s new,
but no trick stuff just CZ power. Ronnie Snyder ran well all day, and rode
everything from Bultaco to Suzuki and was very smooth. Ronnie was amazing!
Bill Davis looked really strong, his YZ's were cranking it. Bill actually
pulled several hole shots, beating Joe’s 501 once and his 490 another. Bill
coated in the 1st 50+ but looked really strong doing it. Some didn’t fair so
well. Skip locked up his KTM, David Burgess ran strong till rear brake
problems, Scott Anderson really put on a good show on his RM 370. He still
has a few bugs in there, but I’m sure he will work them out. Steve Webster
and Clay Fugate have set up a tradition of cooking Brats @ the events. The
vendors don’t like it, but everyone else does – free food! These are two
really cool guys. I just wanted to say “thanks” on behalf of us who eat in
your pits @ each race. You’re too cool! Check your schedule for a change.
Mothers day weekend we will have an event. Sunday still belongs to Mom, but
Saturday’s gonna be great. A new track south of Dallas will play host to us.
“Old Fort Dallas” is an old west town; we will be having a vintage event
there. Rough Riders mount up – if you go to the saloon before your race
don’t! Well you know – this is a great place to bring Mom and the kids. Last
year this event had 8 to 10 thousand people there over the weekend. So this
is going to be a great chance to get the word out about vintage racing. We
will design the track! So mark May 8th for a good time. So till next time,
remember – turn on the gas! See ya @ the starting gate Bobby Lucas

| Skip, Just a quick note of
thanks to you and the other members of the TVRC for allowing my brother
Randy and I to race with your club at Lake Whitney this past weekend. We
both had a great time and look forward to attending another event in the

Dear tvrc if you get this message, I have lost a bracelet at the race at
Jefferson last May. It was a very sentamental item and if you have seen it please let us
know. The bracelet is made up of dark blue topaz stones and is heavy. Thankyou sincerely,

Hey TVRC,
This is a very grateful to be alive message to my fellow rough riders. I'm the Elsinore
#13 rider who works nights at TI and unfortunately didn't get to ride very much last year,
but to know me is to love me, Ha Ha!
Anyway, on Dec 4, my wife asked for a divorce and I didn't see it coming, so I took some
vacation and headed down to Kerrville to our cabin to get it together. Instead I had a
massive heart attack and subsequent quintuple bypass on the 12th. I didnt even know I was
sick and had no symptoms. I'm 42 years old.
Please guys, make sure to get checked out by a Doc once in a while. I put it off and
almost died as a result of this vanity. I check the web site often and will have to be
content to live vicariously through you guys for a
while. But I Will Return To Race Again !!! I'm
recovering at my Dads place in San Antone and should return to DFW by June following
Cardiac Rehab. Kick up
some roost for me, cuz ya cant keep a good man down. Sincerely,
Bobby Finical
