Burleson, September 14th Mother Nature could not deny us this day. The
Robert Glover Memorial Event was one Robert would have loved. Robert was an
old “sea dog”, and you really needed a sailor’s outlook today…. Bottom down
the hatches – let’s race! With the 100+ degree temperature turned 65
degrees, Rough Riders came out in force to start up the fall series, and to
remember one of our own! Practice was perfect, traction city, but an hour
later at 10 am things began to change. The vote was to run the event…. one
moto could decide your over all. As it turns out, 2 or 3 laps decided the
over alls in some classes – Walter Parks, 63 years young, would beat many
expert riders on his 125 KTM by just running every lap… notice I said
running. In the 125cc GP moto, Scott Anderson & Chris Barton both on Suzukis,
crossed the line starting their last lap side by side… both entered a huge
water hole and just vanished! Both expert riders ground out at the same
time. Brown water running down their bikes and bodies, both had a huge smile
on their faces. Jeff Acklin had a really good day…. winning the Expert Class
over all on his Honda 250. I had no idea he was such a mud rider as he
pulled away. Second over all, Joe Busby on his 490 Maico followed by Bill
Davis’ 465 Yamaha, then by Walter Parks’ 125 KTM… Go old man! Sixteen
entries stayed for the Vintage event with many putting bikes away. Those
that rode had a blast! Scott Anderson on a TM 400 out ran Mark Brown on a KX
250 for 1st over all honors. Bill Davis ran strong on AYZ 360 once he
cleared the starting gate! What’s up, Bill? Spotting everyone now? Robert
Ratcliff ran strong on his 250 Elsinore winning the Novice class.
Upcoming Events
By the time you read this, we should have run the North Forty and Swan.
So Rio Bravo gets the gravy here. The owners want only our members at this
event. No one who is not a member will be allowed to sign in. Bring your
cards for membership proof. Rio will be groomed and waiting. This is a
vintage only event. By that, I mean only the classed allowed by our rules.
Please call me for any questions you may have. A party is planned at Chris
Richardson’s in Houston on Saturday… see our website for information.
Regional points, by this time, should be adding up. Check your results,
points for Jefferson, Swan, Rio and North Forty – you may have an over all.
Brad Lackey, Jim Pomeroy & Ron Pomeroy will miss Rio, but should finish well
in the region. The Wyman Priddy TVRC 15th Anniversary Event is going to be a
whole lot of fun. The improvements made to the track are awesome. You will
think you’re in Vintage MX heaven. 1 ¾ miles of up & down, sweeping turns, a
Lake Whitney-type start! What else could you want!? If you have been before,
come again… if never, you’ll be in awe! Jim Pomeroy will be having his
birthday with us, so needless to say, you all are invited. Presents are
optional…just kidding. Brad Lackey is furnishing the event T’s by Jake’s
Garage, and should be typical Brad… the very best. So until next time, take
care and see ya at the gate. Remember … turn on the gas.

| South Texas Support Hey Hump -
Good seeing you last wknd, good race. Since there is a "TBD" in the EVO
schedule early November. (You have Rio-TBD on the 9th)...
I see TVRC/AHRMA has an event scheduled at Rio on the November 2nd.
Could you endorse / co-schedule for a combined event? At least post on
the website (for vintage & evo bikes, just no modern support) (As simple as
no cross-membership required for the one race, both clubs - make it no EVO
points or not, whatever)
TVRC / AHRMA has already endorsed / co-scheduled the EVO Swan event on
Oct. 12th.
It would sure be great to have a combined (EVO endorsed) event for better
overall turnout in vintage (pre-74) class!
sincerely, Chris Richardson AHRMA / EVO / TVRC / AMA/ MGNOC / POG (just a
Texas motorcycle rider)
PS - All riders are welcomed (encouraged) to stop by on Saturday,
November 1, 5pm- till. (It is right on the way to Rio for those of you "up
north") BBQ, Drinks, MX Videos, Led Zeppelin, tire kickin, etc. There are

| Why I couldn't Make It to BMX Skip, just curious how the
races went today. Hope the track was good and everyone had fun. Wanted to be
there but I have a colonoscopy in the morning...so I have been drinking my 1
gal jug of whatever the heck that crap is and staying close to the commode.
Linda and I have debated the issue for several weeks now but I gave in as it
would take months to reschedule my 6:45 a.m. Monday morning appointment. I
had one of these not to long ago and the pollops were precancerous, so they
are following up with another scoping. Sure hated to miss this first race
back. Look for us all at the north forty track in two weeks. Got something
for you, just cannot seem to get it in the mail. Take care, Larry.
