Hello TVRC Members

The 2001 TVRC overall award presentations will be Friday December 28, 2001 at the Fort Worth Motorcycle Expo in the Amon Carter Exhibit Hall at 7:00 PM. Members are encouraged to dust off their machines to enter them in the annual bike show. Delivery times are Thurs. 12-27 10:00 A.M.-6:00 P.M. and Friday 12-28 8:00 A.M.- 1:00 P.M. Pick up time is Sunday 12-30 6:00 P.M. A complimentary lunch will be served to all exhibitors Friday 12:00 Noon. The plaques, provided by the TVRC treasuries are being made for all awards his week. Awards were provided for the top 3 paid TVRC members in each class except the Vintage Small Bore. The TVRC has spent over $3000 on awards for the year of 2001 all covered by memberships and race day earnings of $5.00 per rider at TVRC promoted races. Jackets for award winners can be provided with logo and embroidery for about $50 each. I'll be glad to order it, but I will not have the time to have it by the Expo. Wyman Priddy Memorial t-shirts are still available at $20.00 each. If you cannot attend the presentation the awards will be available all weekend at the Expo or I will have your award with me at any scheduled race.

Many thanks to A Tech Copier Service and Ed Shade for their donation of time and materials for the TVRC news publications since Ed joined in the spring of 2000.

As a special promotion this year any AMA or AHRMA member can join the TVRC for a reduced membership fee of $20.00 with dues good until Dec. 31, 2002. All we ask is your attendance to as many events as you can.

Speaking of scheduled races, The Wyman Priddy Memorial National AHRMA race at Oak Hill MX will be June, 8 & 9 2002. The date was reconfirmed after a circle of phone discussion and changed from the tentative June 1& 2 to provide a two-week gap between AHRMA national schedule after the TVRC newsletter and the AHRMA Vintage Views were printed.

Updated copies of the schedule and Oak Hill flyer are enclosed.

Dear TVRC,

Thank you to all members, promoters, sponsors, and spouses for your support in 2001. Your support is what really makes our club one we all are very proud of!

Starting in 2002, we will see growth in our ranks due to a number of current events. The AMA has granted us a club charter as a promotional racing club. The American Historic Racing Motorcycle Association has also seen to grant us a National MX and trials event. David Boydstun and I have developed a region which we feel will benefit all vintage racers in our area.

The Wyman Priddy Memorial National will be held at Oat Hill Motocross Park. Richard and Donna White are very excited to have this event, and owner, Jeff Pray, who has done a super job rebuilding the track, is also very happy. Check your schedule, we will race there before the National. Everyone should attend!

November 30th was also a banner day for us. We, the TVRC, nominated Wyman Priddy to the American Motorcycle Hall of Fame. We certainly hope he will be accepted in 2002.

I would, last but not least, like to take the space to thank one of our club members. One who has given more time that anyone to this club in the past years. Skip Miller has, at times, seemed a little out of shape (no pun intended), but he really does work hard for our club. The effort he makes to put together the paints, awards, sign ins, Treasury, website, and never miss a race is truly a sincere effort. Next time you see Skip, just tell him "thanks". It would really mean a lot.

Merry Christmas to You All & Have a Wonderful New Year!

2002 will be Great!

To all T.V.R.C. members.                                                                                                                             December 24, 2001

I would like to thank all of you for a great 2001 season. We had some really great races at cool tracks. My thanks as well to all sponsors, Promoters, and Track owners. Without these folks we would be in a cow-pasture somewhere racing for beers.

As I look back over this passing year, I think of the changes in the club. The year 2002 will start out with the T.V.R.C. as an A.M.A. recognized club, an A.H.R.M.A. regional supporter and host to the Wyman Priddy Memorial that will be an A.H.R.M.A. race.

Word has it that decade class and modern support will race together to build it up. I know some of you guys have newer bikes. Lets dust them off. Try to get a buddy involved. My neighbor has a 96 KX 250 and will be joining at the expo.

I have been asked all kinds of questions over the last few months and most people are concerned about attendance. There is no simple answer, or is there? How about some help.

Short and to the point is that three people do all the integral work. All of which have demanding jobs, families, and lives that I know for a fact get pushed aside for club duties. Who of you would like to be in charge of the trophies, keeping the points every race, or be in charge of the rider sign-up and classes. These are thing taken for granted by most and acknowledged by few. After sign-up each race Skip gets about 2-laps of practice. Hell I know guys that would want there race fee back plus gas-money home if they didn’t get their practice…. don’t get me started.

As a reward for your patience in this little newsflash I am inviting everyone who reads this to call or e-mail and tell me what’s on your mind. This is the only way to get those answers we talked about earlier. You can remain anonymous if you like, that I will guarantee. Let’s see 100 riders at the races, we can do it. Just watch.

As a side note, my special thanks to Bob, Skip, Britt and Mary, for their guidance and friendship, to Jerry Nelson and Dave Fournier without whom Gran Prix III would not be the same. And also to my wonderful wife Kristina who puts up with more than I ever could.

Best wishes to you all this holiday season. I will be waiting for your call.

Ed Shade.
