Gettin' the Word Out

I would like to take the time to talk to each one of you about each race and about upcoming events as well, but time seems to be getting harder to find.

Getting the word out to prospective racers and trying to motivate old members to come out and play is really a newsletter web page process.

However the press is always a good way to reach current and future members. While articles in local papers may bring out a few riders what we really need is the word in the right circles

The circles that include vintage riders and future members are what are needed. Currently 10 members from the TVRC have sent a request to the AMA to sanction us as an AMA

club. Before you go jump at any way out ideas remember lots of us are AMA members already.

You guys who are not members will not have to join in order to continue riding the TVRC races. We used to ride in Waco at the Eagles, and the are one of the oldest AMA clubs in

America. You didn't have to join then and you don't have to now.

So What's the big Deal you may say? Look at the area tracks and see if they are AMA or not. Village Creek MX, yes, Whitney MX, yes, Swan MX, yes, just to name a few.

So the bottom line is we win the AMA wins. We will have a schedule in the Monthly AMA magazine reaching many more vintage riders than say Southern Dirt Bike, no cut to Katt Span but they are about minis and all that!

Articles I'm sure will be written about the TVRC, which should tell what we have done, and are really about.

Future events will receive press, thus bigger events for us as a club. The National group (AHRMA) is currently contemplating a National in Texas Again. I talked to David Boydson at Hallet, OK and he wants an event in Texas in 2002. Brad Lackey, Don Rainey, Chris Richardson, and I discussed an event for Texas next year. I pushed for a Wyman Priddy Memorial National Event and all agreed it should be done.

With TVRC an AMA club we will get this event, a truly TVRC, AHRMA, AMA event. We just hope it ain't June, July, or August.

Lots of good things will come out of us joining the AMA. Besides we all belong to other clubs me, Life member of the 1st Calvary Division, 2nd Armored Division, NRA, TVRC, Penton Owners Group, Disabled American Veterans, EAA, you get the idea, we all have interest we need to protect.

The phone calls I have made in the past few weeks have all been positive. How do we think we'll get Wyman Priddy where he belongs! The Hall of Fame!

I can't wait to get something running.

Your President
