From the President
Well it's spring time in Texas and the vintage MX battles are in full swing. Mother nature has been a bit kinder to us this season with only one rainout. Keep your fingers crossed! Entry numbers are coming back up and it's great to see some 'old' faces that haven't been out for awhile.
The Wyman Priddy race was a great day with Wyman's brother and other relatives making the drive up from south of San Antonio to participate in the days events. It was really cool to listen to Lloyd Priddy's comments. It put the day and what we are doing into perspective. Remember to get your Second Annual WP T-shirt when you see Skipper at the tracks.
Village Creek was our first 'combined' event with the southern club and everyone seemed to enjoy the day. It was nice to have different guys to race with and the consensus was that the track was great for vintage and an extremely fast track. We will be scheduling a couple of joint events a year in the future.
We are considering doing an exhibition 'race' at a rally on June fifth. The event will be at the Travis County fair grounds in Austin. We need to make a decision real soon as to weather or not we want to participate which means we need those of you who would like to go to commit so that the club can. This is purely a public relations thing to let more old riders know what we are doing. We have about seven riders committed right now but we need about twenty to put on a decent show. If your interested contact me or Ron King ASAP.
We are also going to participate in the Cleburne Hot Air Balloon festival with a booth and bike display. They are hosting a motorsports swap meet as part of the festival and will also have displays in the Cleburne mall. Contact me or Tim Bates if your interested in being a part of this event.
August is not far off so it's time to start thinking about officer candidates. Basically we've been short a couple of officers this year. Yes, it can be a lot of work and trying at times, but it's also very rewarding to see your comrades have a great day at the races.
Well, enough for now. Se ya at the track.
John Maxson
