A MESSAGE FROM OUR PRESIDENT
Chris Richardson  on Texas Racing

Welcome to the second decade of vintage racing with TVRC! A lot has happened in the first ten years and I believe we can look forward to many more years of excellent racing, TVRC style.
Let me first thank all of you who have expressed such high confidence in me and my ability to lead your club. I hope to be worthy of your trust. I'd also like to thank my fellow officers who answered the call to serve TVRC. This can be a frustrating experience, but volunteers are a necessity for this club to thrive.
Let me tell those of you who don't know me a little about myself.  I grew up in a small Minnesota town that boasted Can-Am, Hodaka and Suzuki dealers, I've been in love with yellow bikes most of my life. Of course I have yet to find a motorcycle that I didn't like and currently have three brands living in my garage. I raced sporadically in the '70s but really wouldn't consider myself a racer then, I was to busy partying and then raising my family when I finally started to grow up. Now that I have a little extra money and time I prefer the bikes I lusted after in my youth over high priced and complicated modern bikes. Personally, I get more satisfaction from being in the garage than racing, but its a close call. Well, enough of that.
What's Maxson going to change?  Not really a whole lot. Basically all TVRC needs is some good management.  We do need to take a long look at our classes. We don't have as much clout with the tracks as we did five years ago. Modern bike racing is experiencing a resurgence in participation that means our money doesn't mean as much as it did. DFW tracks can make more money on practice days with out the overhead of scorers, as many flagers and EMS personnel. We are going to do our own sign up. This will allow us to structure however many gates we get ourselves and eliminate a lot of the confusion we've seen with rider numbers and scoring.
Look for the TVRC ez-up to sign in. September 20th will be our 10th anniversary race at Burleson MX. It will also be Tech. Inspection.  Those are two powerful words, TECH. INSPECTION. First of all my primary concern is that we have SAFE bikes. Vintage AND G.P. bikes are all subject to tech. insp. for safety sake. Second, what I'm hearing from most members is that the Vintage rules are correct and should be followed. Here's my view, I'm not that concerned with what the magic numbers are but if there is a rule, FOLLOW THE RULES. It's that simple. Tech. insp. and sign up will be side by side at Burleson and available at subsequent races, we may also do random inspections, ie: all 3rd place finishers at one race, all 1st place at the next etc., as the year goes on. Things we will be looking for include functioning brakes, controls, side stands removed or secured, sound wheels and fuel leaks. Please co-operate with the tech. inspectors and let's make this as painless as possible.
OK, what about AHRMA and Evo?  Live and let live. There is no reason why there shouldn't be cross over from all organizations. After all, we're all Vintage racers aren't we? Well, that's enough for now. Please feel free to speak to me about any concerns you have. I'm always willing to listen and am genuinely concerned about OUR club.
