Had a short talk with Stacy today and he is settling in back at home.
Great news is he is seeing some progress in rehab and the level in which
he can feel things is slowly getting lower. At this stage every
centimeter is benchmark.
He is not sure if he will be able to make the banquet at this time but
wants to make sure everyone knows how much he appreciates the help,
prayers and support he has received.

His cell phone is still the best way to get him, 903-407-6279. |

Thanks to everyone who contributed
to the fund for Stacey at the River Valley event on Dec. 13th.
Around $1500 was collected that day, and a few more checks have trickled
in since then. The total is near $2000.
Stacey had a setback that week; an
infection that put him back in the hospital for a week or more. On
Tuesday the 15th, 6 of us went to see him. We told him about
how the day went, told him that the club members were thinking about
him, and gave him a check. He said to tell everyone thanks.
He should be back in the rehab
building by now, and it is possible he will be home for Christmas.
Overall, his spirit is good, and he is ready to get back to his normal
program again. - kw

I went and visited
with Stacey Wednesday night(10-28) at Baylor rehab. I met Ron King
and Paul Burnett there. He was happy to get the Barber Museum
poster we all signed at Montalba, and the TVRC jersey too. He is
getting work-outs for 2-3 hours in the morning, and again in the
afternoon. It's been 5 weeks since his accident. Still no
voluntary movement from waist down at this point. -kw

TVRC member Stacey Smith
of Jefferson Texas:
Guys, I got news last
weekend that Stacey Smith was badly injured while racing his modern
bike in a night race at Swan Raceway in Tyler. He and another rider
went down together over a jump. Stacey has a broken back in 3
places. A rod(s) has been inserted in his spine. As of now, 3
weeks after the accident, he is paralyzed from the waist down. He
is still in ICU at Mother Francis Hospital in Tyler, but will soon
have a private room. There are some signs of improvement; some
sensations in one leg so far. Some prayers and positive thoughts
for our buddy could go a long way here. A friend of Stacey's named
Russell Hicks(Ragin Cycle) is working toward having a benefit race
at Swan. We will pass along any info on this when we hear it.
