Scott's Summer Party
2006
Scott Andersen 76
Saturday August 27 2005
Thanks to all of you that came out Saturday for the party. I sure had a
great time, I hope that you did too. We had a great showing this year, it
seems to grow a little each time. I'd also like to thank the club for
allowing me to display Wyman Priddy's KX400. An honor. There were a few
surprises this year; Red Griffin and his wife Debbie, and a larger than
expected showing of Project and Concours bikes. I would never have expected
to see Red Griffin. He came all the way from San Angelo! It sure is nice to
see the only other member of the Suzuki "faithful" once in a while. Thanks
for coming Red! This year we had 15 bikes at the party for the Project and
"new" Concours class. The eight bikes entered in the Concours class were all
immaculate, and it must have been tough for the judges to pick a winner.
Third Place went to Mike Snoddy and his 74' Husqvarna 250. I don't know how
the judges didn't pick this one as the winner, it was certainly my favorite.
Second Place went to Bob Lucas and his "never been ridden" 75' Penton 400.
That's one nice machine. Ride it Bob! The First Place bike belonged to new
TVRC member Brooks Blair. An immaculatley restored 82' YZ250. Yep, this is
the YZ with the cooling system running through the steering stem. Brooks
told me when they took the machine apart during the restoration, that they
had to pound the steering stem out with a sledge hammer because of all the
corrosion. A beautiful bike, and a tough restoration no doubt.
Congratulations Brooks, and welcome aboard! The Project class brought out
some real conversation pieces. I was able to cherry pick Third Place with my
69' TS250. Its not legal for the Classic 250 class you know. The Second
Place machine was my personal favorite, Bill Davis brought a 1973 Rokon 340.
I can't wait to ride that one Bill. Best Project went to Joe Busby and Bob
Lucas, a truly rare 1967 Maico 360. You two need to get working on this
bike. I tried to take a few photos, but kept getting distracted with all
that was going on. I took two during the party, and took a few of some of
the bikes left over on Sunday. If anyone out there has photo or two, please
send them to Skip so he can post them. Again, thanks to all of you. Next
year will be even better! Scott
P.S. I've started working on my 125 again. The King of the Hill Small
Bore Trophy race is coming soon, at the Wyman Priddy Memorial race in
October.

TVRC Summer Break
Barbeque/Swim Party/Bench Race
5:00 P.M. untill ???
Scott Andersen Home
2209 Lake Contry Drive Weatherford Texas
Scott Andersen World Traveler
We would like to get started about 5:00pm. I'll be burning some
hamburgers,
if anyone would like to burn something different, please feel free to bring
anything you'd like.
Like last year we ask that you bring some kind of side dish to share with
everyone else.
Also, bring a lawn chair, a towel if you would like to go for a swim, and
whatever you plan on drinking.
For the last two years I have asked the guys to bring their latest project.
Please do this again if you have something cool in the works, or just
sitting around gathering dust.
Maybe someone has an old 60's Maico sitting around that they should be
working on, or a 125/175YZ,
and we could inspire you through peer pressure to get things in gear.
I hear rumors of a CCM out there. I'd sure like to see that!
Also, I want to have a "Concourse" this year, so bring the nicest bike you
have.
I want to have two classes at this years party, Concourse and Project.
I have trophys for 1st-3rd place sitting here for both classes.
Anyone that brings a finished bike that was a former Project entry gets
extra points!
An impartial judge will on hand to decide the winners.
I'm looking forward to seeing all of you!
Directions: Take I 20 west to
exit 409 in Weatherford, which is Santa Fe/Clear Lake Road. Turn left, which
is South on Clear Lake Road. Go past the Chevron, up on the hill and take
the second right turn onto Lake Country Drive.
House is located on the left at the top of the loop,

Scott Andersen A day at North Forty 11-18-2001
Skip, Had a great time out there on Sunday! You guys run a great operation. I want to
confirm that we are going to race at North 40 on the 18th of November. My brother is
planning to come out from California, and I want to make sure that he is here on a race
weekend. Will he be able to run as a guest, or will he need to join TVRC?
Thanks, Scott
Skip, I want to thank you and all the other Club Members that attended the North 40 race
on the 18th. All of you made my brother Brad, who had flown in from California, feel
extremely at home here in Texas. I'd like to extend a special thanks to Britt Lambert, for
lending Brad his Bultaco. I think he really doesn't like Suzukis anyway, so this was
fantastic. Thanks Britt! You are a generous man. I think we have hooked him. While we were
driving home from the races, we spent a lot of time talking about Pursangs and weird
Spanish stuff.
Thanks Guys!

Here's my mom on her DT250,
that my dad had modified with a TM400 gas tank, forks, and front wheel. It was a real
tank, but she could ride the hell out of it! Scott |
