JOE BUSBY TAKES A HIT AT MOSIER VALLEY Friday, March 13, at the GNC finals at Mosier Valley, Joe Busby injured his leg and will be out for six months or so. Joe's first moto of the weekend was at 5:00 pm and he never made through the first turn. An unknown Yamaha rider entered the turn a little to hot and tried to use Joe as a berm. Joe high-sided and soon discovered his left ankle didn't feel too good. The paramedics cut his Alpine Star Tech 8 off to find it full of blood. Joe suffered a compound fracture about six inches above his ankle breaking both bones along with the evident bone puncture. Surgery was performed and a plate was put into his leg to hold the main bone together so it can heel. The plate will be taken out in a year or so. As expected, he is still in great pain as his meds don't seem to be cutting it. Only time will tell how long he will be off work, but he is already looking forward to the upcoming Wyman Priddy event to come out and cheer the rest of us on.Now who will dominate the GP 2 Masters? Mike Partain? Chris Barton? J.R. Ott? The action in that class should be great! Ron Short TEAM CPR We hear that Mosier Valley MX Park in Arlington, Texas, has been sold to the City of Arlington and is scheduled to be closed on November 30, 2004. Apparently, The Dallas-Ft. Worth area riders are helpless in this, so no letter campaign. The track owner, Jerry Surber, after 30+ years in MX has decided to retire from the sport and sold the track to the City of Arlington for an undisclosed sum, according to Racer X reader Johnny T. Luttrull. Any time a track dies, we all die a little, don’t we? |
