A bright, sunny day greeted the riders at North Forty on Sunday with just
enough wind to keep the dust away. The track was well prepped and is a lot
of fun, and fast), to ride. The vintage class had a real battle with Carl
Keller on a Bultaco being chased by Scott Anderson on his feather light
Suzuki 400. Matt Mosley on a Kawasaki took the lead in the final laps of the
first moto after the Bul decided it didn't need an axle nut and left it on
the track somewhere. The second vintage moto saw Scott hold off Matt for the
win. The GP11 class saw Joe Busby on his Maico being dogged by David
Thompson on his Yamaha for the entire moto. Joe didn't get to cruise this
one. Bill Davis came in third on his Yamaha. The second moto had Joe pulling
a bit more of a lead on David but He stayed close to Joe. In the decade
class it was Joe Busby on his Honda Passing Mike Partain on his Yamaha YZ,
(from a different decade), with Mark Brown also in the chase. A little way
back was Skip Miller, Gary Moore, me), and Michael Snoddy on a very clean
ATK air cooled bike in a close chase for the whole moto. I was able to scare
everyone around me with my wild use of the whole track and then some extra
real estate for passing. After screwing up a turn Skip passed for fourth, me
in fifth and Snoddy in sixth. The second moto saw the same at the front but
with Mr. Snoddy in fourth, Skip in fifth and me in sixth. On the first lap I
passed Skip over the set of double whoops and felt the effects of wind
resistance as the wind blowing straight at us nearly looped me out when I
jumped. It scared Skip enough that he stayed away from me and it scared me
enough I crouched over the jumps from then on. The 125 race went to Joe
Busby on his very fast Honda. I hope everyone had a good time at the track.
This article was written to the best of my recollection and lousy memory and
I am sorry for any errors. Good luck to all of you at Jefferson, Gary Moore |
