On 9-13-01 Robert Glover, longtime rider with the TVRC and friend to all, traded his wheels for wings. Passing away from liver disease. I've known Robert and his family for 10 years and became close friends with him. He, like most of us, began racing in the early 70's on what we now call vintage bikes. He rode a variety of diferrent bikes with the club and didn't care what it was, he just liked to ride. Even in the last weeks he was optimistic about getting better and was even talking about riding again once he was able to. It is proven, you can't take the race out of a racer. He leaves behind his wife DeeDee and 13 year old son Robert. They planned for this and are well taken care of. He will be missed. I lost a good friend and we lost one of our own. Gary Moore

Dear TVRC

I just wanted to thank you again for the wonderful way you guys have honored Wyman's memory and warmed my heart again. I am so amazed at the influence he had on so many young men and the unbelievable tribute you've paid him. I already look forward to next year's race and hope to see more familiar faces.
Thanks again for all the hard work, time, and money you put into honoring Wyman's memory. I can't tell you what it means to me and my family.

See you next year! Remoh

Dumbest questions asked on a cruise

"Is this the elevator that will take me to the front of the ship?"

"What do you do with the ice sculptures after they melt?"

"Do the staff sleep on the ship?"(No, they stay in the Holiday Inn and we have them jet ski in every morning.)

"What religion are all these people with patches behind their ears?"

"Can the ship drop us off at the airport?"

But the first prize goes to the lady who had the following conversation with a crew member; "Is the water in the pool sea water?" "yes, it is constantly pumped in, filtered, circulated, and pumped back out." "So it's sea water then?" "yessss!" So she turns to her friend and says, "See, I told you that's why there are so many big waves in the pool!"

How to Motocross
There is no such thing as natural talent. No one can naturally travel at these speeds. The ability to go fast is the result of having gone fast enough, often enough, and with incentive enough to make it second nature.

Here's my mom on her DT250, that my dad had modified with a TM400 gas tank, forks, and front wheel. It was a real tank, but she could ride the hell out of it! Scott Andersen

2000 Sportsman of the Year
Chris Richardson
Thanks so much for the honor of "sportsman of the year".

The folks who need recognition, though, are the officers and volunteers who make vintage racing possible. These individuals give freely of their time and efforts, often without compensation of any kind.

Next time you see one of these heroes at the track, take a moment to thank them and ask if there is something you can do to make the day run smoother. Usually, just by not complaining, you can help immensely.

Anyway, I'd like to thank the folks who helped me get started, and keep me going: Lawrence Lucia, who sold me the first CZ, Diamond Don Rainey, who makes this stuff so much fun, Skip Miller, Bob Lucas, and Joe Busby who made me feel so welcome!

Hey- my place is always open to any riders who wish to come ride "south" (Houston area). Just ask Skip for contact info and directions.
